In October 2016, as part of the Society’s Diamond anniversary celebrations, The Chromatographic Society held its first Grass Roots event in Grasmere in the Lake District. The course focussed on teaching the fundamentals of liquid chromatography to graduate students and novice chromatographers from industry. The event hosted over twenty attendees. The event was such a success that the Society repeated the course in Church Stretton in October 2017, with over twenty-five delegates from academia and industry attending.
Since then, three more Grass Roots courses have been held (Grass Roots 3; Small molecule method development, Grass Roots 4; Introduction to biopharmaceutical analysis and Grass Roots 5; Fundamentals of liquid chromatography). Having run our fundamental course in 2022, we will now run its successor again – small molecule method development which will expand on topics covered at the 2022 event.

We have several fully sponsored UK based PhD bursaries available (courtesy of YMC GmBH, Shimadzu, The RSC Separation Science Group and LGC). Ted Adlard bursaries (£250) are also available for industrial colleagues working at SMEs (defined as <250 workers). Details on application for these bursaries can be found through the registration link).
